Dialysis in Tokyo for travelers: how it works
Planning a trip to Tokyo while on dialysis? Here is how booking a clinic that accepts international patients works, what documents to prepare, and what it costs.
Can I get dialysis as a visitor in Tokyo?
Yes. Many clinics in Tokyo accept international patients for temporary (travel) dialysis. Because you are not on Japanese public insurance, treatment is self-pay — typically ¥30,000–¥80,000 per session, paid at the facility.
What you need
- A referral letter from your home doctor
- Recent infection test results (HBs antigen, HCV antibody, HIV — within 3 months)
- Your dialysis prescription (dry weight, dialyzer, anticoagulant, HD/HDF, access)
How our concierge helps
We contact the clinic in Japanese, confirm availability, hand over your documents, and lock in your appointment date — so you can book your hotel with confidence.
